Course profile/features
Burgess
is famed for being one of the fastest courses in South London (along with Southwark)
I knew about the underpass from reading up on the course beforehand, but the course still had a couple more undulations/slight inclines than expected for a ‘flat’ course.
The course is almost entirely on good quality tarmac, with some parts on grass as the ‘racing line’ through corners,
and running on the grass verges may be necessary at the start due to congestion.
Finishing
straight is very long (1200m)
Notes
Nice scenery, historic features from the former route of the old Surrey Canal (Bridge to Nowhere, Lime Kiln) & the lake.
Don’t
panic if you arrive very early (8.15 ish) like me & don’t spot any
organisers-I’m told the volunteers often don’t arrive until 8.45, as on today’s
visit.
Large field, with a high number of speedsters (415 finishers on date visited)
